Things to do
If you have some extra time to explore, there is plenty to see and do. Whether you are looking for an active afternoon or a relaxing stroll, here are our top recommendations.
Explore the Flemish Ardennes by bike or scooter
The region is world-famous for its rolling green hills and iconic "Bergs." We highly recommend renting a bicycle (electric or road) or a Vespa/scooter to traverse the countryside. It is the best way to soak in the panoramic views.
The UNESCO Town Hall & MOU Museum
Located on the Market Square, the 16th-century Town Hall is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. Inside, the MOU Museum houses an incredible collection of original Oudenaarde tapestries.
The Beguinage (Begijnhof)
For a moment of peace, step through the red baroque gate into the Begijnhof. This 15th-century oasis of small white houses and manicured gardens feels like stepping back in time.
Centrum Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders Centre)
As the "Cycling Capital" of Flanders, this interactive museum is a must-visit. Afterward, head to a cafe on the market square for a local beer.
Local breweries
Oudenaarde has a centuries-old brewing tradition. Visit Brewery Liefmans (famous for its fruit beers) or Brewery Roman (the oldest family brewery in Belgium) for a tasting.
